Setembre Barroc, 1984 by Josep Grau Garriga, will be part of the textile art collection at CA2M Centro de Arte 2 de Mayo.
The piece opens the collective exhibition COLLECTION XVIII: TEXTILE from October 29 to February 28, 2021, where a selection of works propose an expressive and installation path, through the forms of textile art.
The heart of the Agathe Pitié exhibition in the Paintings Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna is a drawing measuring 200 x 280 cm developed by the artist over several months and reinterpreting the subject of "The Last Judgment"
Josep Grau-Garriga, Aurèlia Muñoz, Antoni Tàpies, Clemencia Labin, Polly Apfelbaum, Joana Vasconcelos, Cosima von Bonin, Kimsooja, Yinka Shonibare, Cristina Lucas, Carolina Caycedo, Laure Prouvost, Annette Messager, Eva Lootz, Ricardo Cotanda and Robert Morris, among others.
Grau-Garriga work was selected by Gianni Jetzer at Art Basel Unlimited 2018 platform.
Curated by New York-based curator Gianni Jetzer, Unlimited is Art Basel’s pioneering exhibition platform for projects that transcend the classical art-show stand, including massive sculpture and paintings, video projections, large-scale installations, and live performances.
'Driven by the irrepressible need to draw, passionate role-playing games, Agathe Pitié merges myths, the fantasy and her own personal universe into her works.
The narrative and meticulous element of her large ink drawings, are brought to life with color, and materialize in medieval illuminations or Persian miniatures. With virtuosity and humor, Agathe Pitié captures and brings out the chaos in our contemporary world.'
'This room presents works by Eduard Steinberg (1937–2012), an artist belonging to the second wave of the Russian avant-garde, one of the leaders of non-official art in the 1960s–80s, a follower of Kazimir Malevich who incorporated ideas from Russian religious philosophy into his works. Eleven compositions from his period of geometric abstractions were donated by the artist’s widow, Galina Iosifovna Manevich, to the State Hermitage’s collection of contemporary art in 2014.'
